Here is Mrs. Cathy, all frilly and white.
How do we all feel about Mrs. Cathy’s very frilly gown? Her style evolution doesn’t really offer massive shifts or sudden leaps forward, but we think from the time of her pregnancy with Louis (and also maybe the arrival of Meghan on the scene) she started turning toward a more queenly, traditional, some might call dowdy style. To some of our readers’ surprise, we’ve been largely supportive of this turn. Unlike Meghan, Cathy isn’t going to really have the option to express herself with trendy or high-chic fashion. With her, it’s going to always be about projecting a certain image and to do that, she’s taking cues from the one person best suited to train her on these matters: her grandmother-in-law. This would bore us on a red carpet. We can’t exactly say it excites us in Buckingham Palace, but that doesn’t matter. What matters is, it’s correct. Traditional to a fault, conservatively feminine, demure, and regal all at once. Mission accomplished, Cambridge style.
And that is all we have to say on that.
