An LBD can be surprisingly risky for promo work – especially in the daytime. It can come off too plain or too funereal in tone. And while it’s true she could take this graveside as-is and look completely appropriate, we can’t deny that the dress looks great on her and the shades are perfect for it. If she really wanted to avoid the Chic Widow look, she could have switched out the bag and shoes for metallics.

This is WAY too Church Lady for our tastes and we find both the style and the textile to be more than a bit mumsy, we can’t deny she’s built for these sorts of looks. If anyone can make a Wedgwood preacher’s wife dress and white pumps work, it’s her.

To our eyes, she really is much better when she’s working these breezily minimalist looks than the Country Club Chic – even if she does have a knack for pulling the latter off. We’re not fans of D-ring belts or irregular hems, but we are fans of bright, floaty day dresses under smart trench coats when the weather and the setting allow for it.
