Here is Nicky Tryhard, trying extra hard to pose without looking like he’s posing.
So natural!
It’s rare for us to say this about a menswear look on the red carpet – rarer still for us to be offering Nicky this lifesaver while he nearly drowns in his fashion choices – but this strikes us as the boy version of an FMO dress. This suit is For Models Only, to be worn by the professional cheek-suckers as they stomp down a runway for 45 seconds. Take it out of that rarefied atmosphere and it really doesn’t work. Place it on an eye-searing orange carpet and surround it by monstrous craft projects that have sprung to life and it’s even less likely to work.
In other words, we respect the choice of a modern Kenzo suit, but this one’s not for mere mortals. Let us not speak of the mesh shirt underneath. We’ve been so nice to him up until now.
