We are fully prepared to be completely unfair to this dress.
We figured it best just to be upfront about it. This way, we can explain that this style, while clearly dramatic and pretty and possibly even well-suited to her, strikes us as incredibly stale and uninteresting to us. Put a pair of white opera gloves on her and she’s all set for the 1962 Academy Awards ceremony. And yes, if you are sitting here thinking “Early ’60s Oscars Chic? Sounds pretty good to me,” you would be perfectly within your rights to find this not stale, but fabulously retro. It’s really all about one’s perspective, you see. Which is why you get the final call on this one. If we’re being bitches, you get to defend this frock. If we’re correct, you get to vindicate us. It’s really a win-win for you either way.
Now fight:
Gina Rodriguez’s Natalie Wood Realness:
IN or OUT?
