You do this job long enough and all sorts of crazy ideas pop into your head. We know this sounds nuts, but hear us out:
All the ladystars got together and vowed to wear see-through skirts until we complained about it so much we sounded like prudes and slut-shamers.
THINK ABOUT IT SHEEPLE
The thing is, she really almost had us on this one. She’s extremely well-suited to pull a pretty decent Madonna homage off and this one is more than decent. From the shape of the skirt to the classic pumps, big belt and mesh gloves, she’s doing early ’80s Madonna without being too obvious or referential about it. She may not even have seen this as a deliberate homage, but it definitely steals from Madonna’s classic look. We don’t hate the sheerness out of prudish reasons. God knows Madonna wore way more revealing outfits than this in her day. We just think there are a lot of cute retro elements here but the eye is being crotch-distracted.
