Okay, first: That’s some poorly applied bronzer, sir. Your face is mottled. Second, there’s something to be explored in the idea that an actress needs to step up her fashion game in ever-more-fabulous and jaw-dropping looks as awards season progresses (an idea that seriously needs reconsideration with Olivia Colman and Frances McDormand winning trophies) but an actor who wants the award should get more conservative and narrow in his style choices. It certainly seems to have worked for Rami, who used to go out in some Chadwick Boseman-level envelope-pushing menswear, but quickly snapped back to basic formalwear and suiting when he got on the awards track. Like we said, it worked. We’re happy for him. Begrudgingly.

But then he went and did this and now we’re back to harummphing and side-eyeing him:
