Look, nothing against Milly Bobbie Brown or Storm Reid, both of whom are extremely stylish teenage stars, but for our money, Miss Elsie does not get the kind of credit she deserves for just how singular and sophisticated her choices tend to be.

Most teen ingenues go the glamorous movie star or high-fashion model routes (which describe Storm and Milly Bobbie, respectively), but Elsie’s inspirations seem to be less glamorous in nature and more relatable, real-world, and fun. She dresses like a 20-something with a really cool job, which strikes us as a pure representation of her own style and how she sees herself, rather than something dictated by managers and advisors. If she’s smart and lucky, she’s in a good position to become a Greta Gerwig-like Queen of the Indies, a role for which her particular style is extremely well-suited.

Long story short: she looks fantastic here. Love the suit, shirt and boots. The brooch is cute. The purse and tucked shades are a skosh on the precious side but girlfriend’s 15. She’s allowed a little preciousness in the midst of all the sophistication.
