BAFTA Awards 2019: Timothée Chalamet Leans Into All of It in Haider Ackermann

Why, look at the time, kittens. The hour is late and we haven’t offered you a Chalamet Moment, which we’re pretty sure you could use right now.

See? Just look at Mr. Beautiful Boy, werqing a lewk and offering you peace – or the opportunity to rig a scan of his fingerprints if you’re like a movie hacker or something.

Seriously, though:

What is not to love here?

Yeah, we know. Thirteen years at this gig means a question like that is just begging for the rebuttals. Fine, then. We get it. It’s a lot. And we sure as hell wouldn’t ever try to pull this off ourselves. But part of the reason we speak so kindly of his efforts is because he’s doing it just right. He’s young, he’s cute, he’s built for high-fashion’s restrictive sense of proportion and silhouette. We can’t do anything but applaud someone who knows that this is the time to try the stuff no one else would try.

And he has an artist’s sense of himself, which we realize is a thing a lot of people will find pretentious or precious in their movie stars. Fair enough. But we like that he doesn’t try to dress in a businesslike or even approachably down-to-earth manner when neither of those qualities describe his career at the moment.

Bottom line, it’s fabulous.
