We have an astonishing number of menswear posts to get through today because, to our ongoing glee, the men of entertainment have been stepping their shit up. And if there’s a King of Stepping His Shit Up at the moment, it would absolutely have to be Billy Porter, who clearly does not give any fucks what anyone else thinks of his style choices.

Sir.

Now, there are definitely aspects of this design that we do not respond well to on their own merits (satin and big-ass bows, mainly), but Mr. Porter is boldly serving up some of the queerest fabulosity any red carpet has seen in YEARS. Do we love a brown satin jumpsuit with a huge orange bow? Oh, HELL no. Not even if Tilda Swinton, Lupita Nyong’o and Cate Blanchett all came out sporting them in some sort of display of style-based solidarity. But it really doesn’t matter, because when we look at this:

All we can see is this:

And that’s honestly kind of fabulous. Not only is he riding the rainbow with his fashion choices, but he’s demanding a seat on a long continuum of western dandyism and peacocking that goes back centuries. We may not love this jumpsuit, but we respect the fuck out of it.
