It’s possible we’re still riding on a high of love and good feelings toward her after our totally gushing review of The Favourite, but we don’t think that entirely explains our positive reaction to this look. After all, it’s not exactly reinventing any wheels:

Except for what would have been considered a racy neckline at the time, she’s ready to attend the 1965 company Christmas party in this getup. If you’ve got any understanding of the history of western fashion in the last century or so, you know this is far from a fresh look. It’s not even a classic with a modern twist. It’s as classic as classic gets, right down to the gold pumps and side-swept page boy hair. But she’s so incredibly well suited to this sort of high-fashion Peggy Olsen cosplay. And it’s not a style she utilizes all that often, which makes the deployment of it stand out just a bit more. It’s not a style we’d like to see her in all the time – because then it really would become stale – but it’s a great look to have in her rotation, knowing she can knock it out of the park pretty effortlessly.
