And – don’t hate us, now – we kind of … like it?

We don’t know… it’s definitely got a lot going on, but she’s a gal who can handle some high-fashion foolishness. And it’s always fun to see her step away from the romantic styles that defined her for so long, into something sharp and devastatingly modern in tone. We tend to think the asymmetry of the bodice and the irregularity of the hem are both not needed when there’s just so much going on with all that pleating. That sort of pale blue doesn’t always make the best color in a red carpet lighting sitch, although our main issue with it is how it works against the design. That blue is happy and springtime and pretty, but it doesn’t have a high-fashion sophistication to it, which is something this dress needs more of to work. We rarely ever pick dark neutrals as a red carpet choice, but a much darker blue or even a black might render this in a more chic way.

Still, it’s different and eye-catching. Half the battle won.
