As we’ve noted a time or two before, sometimes, a simple gal needs a simple look to get her point across.
Miss Dakota tends to be at her best when she works an almost iconic sort of style; looks that come off so basic in design and so retro in tone that they sometimes look like something she snagged in a vintage shop. She’s also – daughter of Melanie, granddaughter of Tippi – at her best when she’s working a simple, sexy, unfussy sort of look. We love this on her. The red looks amazing and does half the work of providing impact. The other half is provided by her legs. It’s not reinventing anything, but it looks glamorous, pretty and hot. We could quibble with a few things, like that flounce or the shape of the skirt, but overall, we think this represents a smart leaning-in on her strengths and a savvy unfussiness, knowing she’d be sharing this red carpet with some fairly fussy fashion peeps.
