Michelle Yeoh in Bottega Veneta at the Cannes Film Festival: IN or OUT?

Every morning when we get our cups of coffee and shoo various felines away from our desks, we settle in to check out who wore what the night before. We’re always on the lookout for one good, strong, discussable look on a big star that we can put up to a vote. It’s always best when it’s a nearly universally beloved star. Kim Kardashian could step out in the most stunning piece of couture ever rendered and the vote would probably be close at best. No, what we want for the perfect “IN or OUT?” post is someone you love wearing something you might not. Michelle Yeoh, that is definitely your cue.

It’s fringed leather, kittens. Let’s just repeat that in a slower, italicized, and thus more dramatic manner. Fringed. Leather. Perhaps we should further add that it’s fringed leather in mint green and oxblood. We actually want to like this, if only because it’s a little wild and off-model for her. But fringed leather is a tough element to make sophisticated. The odd color story doesn’t help, nor does the heavy stiffness of the bodice. Then again, it’s Michelle Yeoh. We want to see if that’s enough to overcome all of the issues. And we haven’t mentioned how poorly chosen the shoes are!

Michelle Yeoh’s Whole Deal Here:

IN or OUT?

FYI if it matters: She stepped out to see and be seen at the premiere of Kevin Costner’s film Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1. In the interests of full blogging disclosure, we’re telling you this now only because if we did it the normal way, we’d have had a title that read: “Cannes Film Festival 2024: Michelle Yeoh in Bottega Veneta at the HORIZON: AN AMERICAN SAGA – Part 1 Premiere: IN or OUT?” and darlings? That is WAY too much punctuation for a headline.
