Way to bounce back, darling. That last look was tragic, but this is head-turning. And we don’t even like the dress that much. All that ruching and that weird, sloping waistline – not fabulous. But the color, shape and style look great on her. She needs to get away from the body con and start working these more romantic looks. What do we all think of the makeup? We really like it for being dramatic and unexpected, but we’re not sure she can handle that much smokey eye.

    • kfizz

Agreed on all counts, and I think the makeup is really great – she’s rocking it.

    • lunchcoma

That’s a surprisingly good look for her. I’m used to seeing her either be retro or ultramodern, and I wouldn’t have expected that she could get away with something so dainty.

    • Suzanne Moore

I’m not crazy about the dress, but at least it’s season appropriate!

    • LipstickForPigs

That is her haircolor F’SHO. Let’s hope she keeps it for a while.

      • Meg0GayGuys6

Her hair does look really pretty, but I think I still prefer that platinum super short cut.

    • hughman

Man, those shoes are fugly. Those are “stripper getting married in Vegas” fugly.

      • Sarah

I hate them with the fire of one thousand suns.

      • formerlyAnon

We usually agree, but for some reason I like ‘em. I think it might be because they somehow make me not hate the lace-curtain lace effect, which I usually hate where ever it appears.

        (edited so it’d make sense)

        • demidaemon

AHA! I knew there was a reason I hated this dress and you nailed it for me. They remind me of the curtains my mom had in the eighties.

      • greymain

And can’t we EVER get shoes that fit?…even if they are fugly?

    • TigerLaverada

I think that’s the best her makeup’s looked in a long time. Love the hair color on her, too.

    • Noah

Absolutely loving this color hair for her.

      • CPT_Doom

Totally agree and her lip color is perfection. The dress is shortening her, though, so she needs to stand up straight.

    • carrie

How in the name of Beyonce do women walk in high heels that are clearly one or more sizes too large for them?

      • smh4748

        Slowly and carefully, presumably. :)

Maybe they glue them in a few hours before walking time.

    • Glam Dixie

Her face and hair look pretty but that dust ruffle someone converted into a dress is tragic and does not go with the shoes.

    • Beardslee

She’s making just a so-so dress look great. Can’t help but noticing that the shoes are too big, as usual.

      • kimmeister

It’s more flattering on her than on the model!

        • Kitten Mittons

Putting that model to shame. Love it!

          • tallgirl1204

It really helps that the dress color makes her eye color pop. And this lower neckline is much more her friend than the tank suit of a few days ago.

            • Kitten Mittons

Definitely. The straps and neckline are very flattering on her.

      • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

She has incredible shoulders, and those delicate straps are just the thing to set them off.

    • Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

      She looks fantastic!

    • Denise Rambo

I think that’s the best I’ve seen her hair and makeup. Not crazy about the dress. And the shoes look like they’re too big.

    • teensmom99

      Who is this woman?

    • Anique Ashraf

I did not think romantic bronze goddess was in her wheelhouse. I was wrong.

    • @Biting Panda

      Brava, Darling.

    • FibonacciSequins

Sloping waistline aside, she looks fantastic. Attagirl!

    • Sarah

      Hair & makeup: perfect
      Dress: nightie night
      Jewelry & Clutch: Fine
      Shoes: Funk That Entirely.

    • smh4748

Boy, I’m off from the crowd on this one. I like her eye makeup, but I do not like that lipcolor on her. I know it’s supposed to balance the heavy eye, but… yuck.

I’m also not loving this hair color. How killer would those dramatic blue eyes look with rich dark brown hair? So killer.

Dress is ok, and I like the shoes. It’s not a bad look, but I’m not in love. I also wish she was deploying her great smile!

      • Fitzperry

I agree about the lip color. And the eye makeup is pretty but it seems overpowering next to that soft dress.

    • Daxx2513

Nice, bu I think she looked great on the Daily Show the other night. Cute floral dress. She looks better with an opened-up necline. Not sure of it’s because of what seems to be a shorter than average neck or square shoulders.

    • http://fibonaccisequins.storenvy.com/ Danielle

That is a Personal Best for the hair and makeup, hands down.

      • makeityourself

Agreed. If she had worn a great pair of earrings, ditched the two dinky necklaces and worn the right size shoes I think it would have been almost perfect.

    • Linda LaPaz

Styled the best I’ve ever seen her, but that dress is a $2700 schmatta.

    • marlie

Some of the best makeup and hair I’ve seen, though the eyes are a touch heavy. The dress looks like a nightgown, but she’s still making it work. Attagirl!

Also, is it just me, or does she look a lot like Gillian Anderson?

      • myandyleigh

I see what you’re sayin.’ Their features are just similar enough that with that hair color they could play…sisters? Anyway, that hair color is really great on her. I don’t much like the trend of the smokey eye continuing to the under eye as well as the lid. It looks dirty and gives the appearance that you have huge bags under your eyes that don’t even exist. Other than that she looks fantastic.

      • iheartnarwhals

My first thought upon seeing her was “wow, she really suits the Gillian Anderson drag!”

    • kimmeister

The soft hairstyle is so pretty on her.

    • Wink

This just may be the best she has ever looked. Awesome job.

    • http://redheadedwolf.wordpress.com/ Laura Renee

I’m so glad she didn’t get it in white! That is SO much better hair than I’ve seen on her on the red carpet. But yeah, she along with most women should restrain the under-eye liner.

    • Sherilyne Cox

Other than Maria Von Tropp and Scarlett O’Hara, who would ever have thought of turning a curtain panel and valance into a dress? I hay-ate it.

    • Anita Karenin

      Total Wet Seal dress.

    • MW

She should stick to this hair colour, her face looks beautiful!

    • robin-m

I’ve never seen her looking this stunning. She has a confidence here that reminds me of Helen Mirren. Maybe she just got laid?

    • KT

I think the hair and makeup are fantastic, and I think she’s handling the smoky eye quite well. The dress is not great, and those shoes are kind of ugly, but I agree that this is moving in the right direction. Also, few people could make that seafoam green work — kudos to her for that.

    • snarkykitten

muuuuch better. Looks like she’s wearing a nightie, but at least her hair isn’t about to turn anyone to stone.

    • guest2visits

I think she looks wonderful but that’s in spite of the dust ruffle dress.

    • Qitkat

WUT? NO. This dress is awful.
Face, hair looks good, but do not match your smokey eye to your hair color.

    • Judy_J

Much better! Nice to see she’s in a better place, fashion-wise.

    • Verascity

The makeup is a little too much, but she still looks fantastic.

    • Frida

She looks so much like Gillian Anderson here!

    • siriuslover

I love those pumps. I don’t really wear pumps anymore, but if I did, I would want those. Just beautiful. I do like that the waist on the dress is a bit cinched to show her figure, but not so tight like the dresses she usually wears. And I’m OK with the makeup.

    • brown-eyed girl

      A personal best!

    • sojo

      So pretty!

    • Pennymac

I love this. It’s one of her best so far.

    • Clash D

I think she can handle smoky eye, it’s just the fake lashes that are overdone. Everything else looks great. Love the hair color and styling.

    • somebody blonde

Love the hair and makeup. As for the dress, I don’t like it, but I like it on her. She looks fantastic.

    • MilaXX

I think she looks much better here. It’s very soft and feminine but still very polished. I like the daytime smokey eye.

    • nannypoo

I don’t like the dress or the enormous shoes, and the jewelry is pitiful, but I love the hair and makeup. I think her eyes are usually underdone and they sort of disappear if she doesn’t have enough. She needs blotting papers.

    • spirit52

I’ll take those shoes. She can keep the rest

    • a_liking

oh, I think this is the best thing I’ve seen her wear in a WHILE. gorgeous and romantic, totally. even the makeup!

    • AlisonHendryx

All I know is she has what my ballet teacher would have called “amazing feet.” Girl’s got arches for daaaaays.

    • formerlyAnon

I like the bodice of that dress on her as much as anything I’ve seen her in. Beachy, but flattering. The waist and skirt are not so good. Nice shoes.

    • http://www.chifleschips.com Stefanie Argudo Mackenzie

      Lovely.,

    • GemFemme

You can never have too much smoky eye.
She’s such a naturally stunning looking woman. I like that she always seems to have a mischievous, slightly naughtily little minx vibe to her.

    • GeoDiva

Why would any celebrity or any stylist let any of their clients leave with shoes that don’t fit? You know every aspect of your outfit will be photographed!!!

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

I LOVE her HAIR, and I know I can be very nitpicky about haircolor and style, but Miss Lizzy, I must say that shade of bronzey gold is so perfectly suited. She looks resplendent, which is a werq in my book (also, SAT words for TLo commenting because I know they enjoy it). I never would have expected that retro screen siren Lauren Bacallish hairstyle to be her thing but damn if she isn’t owning it. I like the top half of the dress, but I wish they’d left the skirt alone rather than given it a hill of ruching – when I mentally edit it to just be ruching around the bust, I like the dress just fine.
      Brava, Miss Lady.

    • alyce1213

Sorry, I don’t like. Reminds me of a mattress cover, with the gathered sides, manipulated into a dress. I like her hair color, ‘though it may be a little heavy on the streaky highlights.

    • sk8tfan

She gets extra points for wearing something weather appropriate. Love the hair color-sometimes she goes too brassy. And the lip color should be her go-to shade. Perhaps a wee overkill on the eye shadow. Still, a definite in.

    • Jaime

Okay, THIS shade of blonde I can get behind – the honey is so much more complimentary to her skin than that brassy weirdness she had in the past.

    • LibKat

Is the conditioner shortage finally over? Her head looks fabulous. I’ll even give her a pass on the eye makeup since her baby blues are sparkling. Not wild about that weird, nightgown thing she is wearing, but at least it is a shape that works on her figure.

    • Lisalady161

I like the ‘soft and pretty’ E.M.! Those slinky little pumps keep that dress from going too nightgown-y, and I like the smoky eye…the colors suit her.

    • @Biting Panda

      oops, silly browser, wrong post.

    • SophieB210

Love the makeup! I would definitely say that’s a personal best.

    • http://tvblogster.blogspot.com Boop

LOVE!!!!!!!!! Everything. The dress is fresh and sensational. Shoes are smashing with the look. Makeup and hair – flawless. Werq it grrl.

    • Judy_S

      Just pretty. Pretty is good.

    • SoAnnaPropriate

Personal best hair and makeup. Saw her on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and was totally charmed.

    • Mothra

Why are her shoes too big?

    • Aurumgirl

I really don’t like the dress, but she looks radiant.

    • yllas

She looks lovely. The dress is wonderful, the shoes are wonderful. Her hair and makeup are so flattering she looks more almost pretty than ever. What’s with the dopey little necklaces? Looks like some things she got for her 18th birthday, wearing for old times sake.

    • drdirection

      She looks like Gilian Anderson

    • Audrey Lee

That looks way better on her than the model, that’s for sure.

    • Tee

Great look. The shoes are surprisingly cute on. Everything together is perfection.

    • crashtestbonnie

This is the best hair we’ve seen on her in eons.

    • understateddiva

Sexy, without a hint of the wanna-be badass that we get from her occasionally. I like the smoky eyes, though the eyelashes might be a bridge too far.

    • SophieCollier

Wowza! That’s her look all right. If she’s going with the dramatic eye, I think she needs to darken her eyebrows a skosh. Otherwise, perfection.

    • http://www.bertkeeter.com Bert Keeter

She survived to walk another red carpet!

    • KendraMR

Personal best. I think it’s the best her hair and makeup have ever looked.

    • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

Wowza. This is the first time I’ve seen her look sexy.

    • livesarah

Stunning. The dress is so much better on her than on the model. She needs to keep a photo on her wall to remind her how good she can look before leaving the house in another painfully bad outfit like yesterday’s!

    • poorellensmith

      Her head looks utterly fantastic!

    • unbornfawn

      Nicely done.

    • demidaemon

SHE GOT HER HAIR DID! For that alone, I am happy. The dress I find kind of ugly, but that headsuit is giving me life.

    • Zuber

Agreed! The eye make up is way too much for her otherwise she looks pretty.

    • in a pickle

I’ve seen enough shoe close ups on TLO to now understand this is a thing- but can someone explain to me the huge shoes? At least half the pics I see include a woman wearing a shoe which is about an inch too big in the back. How do they walk down the red carpet in them? Is it just that designers send everybody a size 10? Does anyone know the answer?

      • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

Designers don’t have all sizes available to loan to the stylists. Stylists work with sample shoes which may or may not be the right size for the celebrity so they go with the closest size they have available. L

        • alliekat9090

But how could anybody navigate walking in shoes that are sizes too big? I mean doesnt one’s foot just come right out of the shoes? Is there double sided tape on the soles of her feet? I am perplexed.

          • Ali2044

Yeah, I kind of need to know this too. Because if I wear a shoe even half a size too big for me they flop around on my feet like clown shoes.

    • altermyego

Her real self looks so much better than the airbrushed version on the poster behind her.

    • poodle66

Love her hair and makeup! Actually the whole look is fine. A+ for a change.

    • Michele M.

This is a WERQ in my books!

    • ChaquitaPhilly

SHE LOOKS GREAT! Even the shoes (which are sooo ugly) look marvelous.

    • E. D.

Not sure about the shoes, but she looks good (and comfortable).

    • Miss Atomic

I think I like her with her platinum sassy bob she had several months ago vs. the romantic look.

    • moxx

Am I the only one who loves every single thing? I mean the dress is a little strange and 2007ish (pair it with converse and you’re set) but it really suits her. And the makeup! Zooweeee mama.

    • Ali2044

Give your makeup artist/hair person a raise, that is amazing head.

    • HeisenbergHattie

One can tell E.M. loves standing there in that dress/shoes/hair/makeup. Her posture says it all. Strong & relaxed without looking like she’s rehearsed posing. Attitude counts.

      • BLauDGaspode

See, and I was going to say her posture looked so uncomfortable, like she’s holding her breath and can’t just relax. I blamed it on the shoes, haha.

    • MoHub

Those shoes are painful-looking as well as sweat-inducing,

    • Joey Melliza

loving the hair color – but unloving those shoes that look like a size too big

    • Michelle Lim

      Brava!

    • OffToSeeHim

Does it look like her shoes are too big? Or is that me?

      • DeniseSchipani

too big and too high-heeled. IMO, that is.

    • ktr33

I like it from head to ankle. HATE the shoes. Not more clear plastic shoes, unless they’re jellies on a 4-year-old girl.
