File this one under “Totally One Hundred Percent Expected Results.” What do you get when you put Beyonce in big hair and a white Gucci jumpsuit?

Fabulous is what you get.

That’s the initial impression, anyway. The fit’s kinda wonky in the bust and while her skills at working those pleats are admirable, it’s still a pleated jumpsuit. Plus the shoes feel kinda underwhelming.

But you cannot beat this girl for that “entering the room” kind of head-turning. She’s all impact.

    Brick House Representing.

    • kimmeister

She’s certainly letting a bunch, of not all, hang out.

      • NBG

        Well played.

    • KinoEye

The lady’s stacked and that’s a fact, ain’t holdin nothing back!

  • MinAgain

Meh. I’m not that impressed. It the Beyonce equivalent of jeans and a T-shirt.

  • imspinningaround

Great jumpsuit and the shoes actually look Studio 54 disco fabulous with it, but I’m kinda over ombre hair.

    • DebbieLovesShoes

I’m more than KINDA over ombre. Can we all agree to just stop it, please?

  • Sobaika

Shoes are meh, but I really love that she paired this with a neutral face. Perfect summer look.

    • sugarkane105

Her neutral face is so beautiful – and in the third picture, she looks JUST like Solange. I haven’t seen them look this much alike until now.

      • NinjaCate

Have you seen the Blow video? They look like twins.

      • demidaemon

I disagree. I think she needed to amp up her make-up here to go with the outfit.

  • deelup

Laid back and pretty. Not sure if it was appropriate for the event.

  • Alyssa

I would love different shoes and bold lip. I do like the natural makeup, but I’m on a bold lip kick right now!

  • Lori

Even Bey can’t save a jumpsuit. Even setting aside my burning hatred of jumpsuits this seems really underdone for the event.

    • KiP07

Solange and Blake Lively were also there and also dressed by Gucci they were giving off a similar (though non jumpsuity) vibe. Given the name of the event I would expect something more formal and less summer pool party, but that is pretty much how all three were dressed.

  • Ginger

White pleated jumpsuit is a phrase that should never be uttered, much less made a reality.

    • numenah

Especially not on a curvy woman. A pleated pant looks good only on the snake hipped. God, I’m hoping they don’t become a thing.

  • boweryboy

Those shoes are clodhoppers, and while the initial impact is Pow! Bam! Wow! upon further review – from tip to toe – it’s awkward and weirdly unflattering.

    • kimmeister

Totally clodhoppers. A million years ago, when I was taking swing dancing lessons, my instructor wondered why I wasn’t as light on my feet as usual. It’s because I was wearing shoes almost exactly like these.

  • Mary Elizabeth Poytinger Baume

why does the front always look diaperish in jumpsuits?

    • kimmeister

Because they don’t fit well. The pleats on this one pretty much guarantee that effect. For one that doesn’t look diaperish, look up Dakota Fanning’s orange one from a few weeks ago. The fit on that one was spectacular.

      • demidaemon

Pleats on anything = diaper. Except for skirts and dresses, maybe.

  • clatie

This is a wig, right? She had giant braid extensions a few days ago, which obviously have been removed. Can you get that many extensions that fast? I can’t imagine how much time she spends in the stylist’s chair.

PS It’s a bit too boobular for my personal taste, but she looks pretty great.

    • warontara

The time for getting weave in and out really depends on the method. Someone with a dedicated style team probably knocks out the hair swap in just a couple of hours (which is lightning fast in black girl haircare time lol).

      • clatie

Thanks for the info. I’ve had short hair for so long, every once in a while I consider getting extensions to help with grow out hell but don’t think I can deal with the time needed to put them in. I guess I’m low maintenance. :-)

        • warontara

No problem! I’m not an expert, I get a sewin about once a year just for fun. It takes awhile, but is actually lower maintenance for me once it’s done. And it gives my non-purchased hair a break from wear and tear of daily styling. Taking it out is the real pain in the ass.

    • MilaXX

We haven’t seen Beyonce’s real hair in years. 99% of her looks are weaves/wigs.

      • Introspective

agree that the look makes an impact, but then falls apart on closer review. and agree too, that the question of beyonce’s real hair is the stuff of legend.

(but there is the funniest pic that may still circulate on the internet of toure side eyeing the shit out of beyonce with her own hair in at the time, which is about a wish and a prayer long at the time and struggling to be in a high bun on her head. look it up. its comedic gold.)

        • MilaXX

Argh! google is falling me! I can’t find it!

          • Introspective

            posting a link, pending approval…

  • @Biting Panda

(Thank heavens those braids are gone.)

  • TinyDynamo

The only thing I think when I see jumpsuits is “how do you pee?” I can’t be the only one who wonders. Beyoncé does manage to make this look pretty summer fabulous, however. I do wish she’d added earrings though.

    • Starling

Oh, my, especially in a white jumpsuit. You can’t let that come within a foot of even the most glamorous bathroom floor!

      • TinyDynamo

Maybe she has Bathroom Minions to hold it up for her?

  • MilaXX

I don’t like it. The shoe is too heavy and the fit is off on the jumpsuit.

  • warontara

I love the impact of this, but the longer I look, the less I enjoy it. Pleated white jumpsuit is just not a flattering look for anybody. Her face is radiant, though!

  • ashtangajunkie

I see the pixie cut/bob phase is over. Bummer. Still, she’s fabulous – I love her face here.

  • IMNAngryLiberal

    Really NOT spectacular.

  • KateShouldBeWorking

    Hips n’ tits, bitches!

  • queeniethebold

i don’t get the supposed spectacularity of it, at all. i think she looks kind of cheesy.

  • mitch45

For some reason I could totally see this with a green pointed toe pump.

  • Danielle

  • Jaeda Laurez

I would have preferred a different heel and a bracelet for some sparkle or shine, but I love her expression and the “Faboo” of it all.

  • sugarkane105

Some metallic heels and a bracelet would have really sold this, but she does look beautiful.

  • LilyVanessi

  • International Model

Beyonce does not flirt with camel toe.

  • AlisonS

I was expecting strappy gold shoes, not the clunkers I wore to my 8th grade dance.

  • Alicia

Something fiercer in the shoe department and more volume in the crown of her hair would have improved matters. And bolder lipstick.

    • TinyDynamo

This sounds like a BK prayer. “For fiercer shoes, voluminous hair, and a bolder lip, TLo without end, amen.”

      • Constant Reader

“… lead us not into orange spray tan and deliver us from sheer over granny panties [or insert your pet peeve here]…

      • Alicia

That is a faith I can get behind. The communion wine comes in a martini glass.

        • TinyDynamo

Instead of swinging an incense thurible to bless us, they use a cocktail shaker. (And yes, I looked it up – the censer on a chain has a name!)

          • Alicia

I thought they were called censers. Bitter Kittens are always educational!

… and generations of Tom’s Irish forebears are shaking their heads and tutting at us.

    • demidaemon

  • Julie Parr

Does she ever stop with the beautiful smile? How does she keep it up for so long? VERY well developed smile muscles.

  • Pat Pending

Laverne Cox would have knocked this entire look out of the ballpark. Sorry not sorry, Bey.

  • Shelby

Pleated pants need to die a painful and fiery death. I hate them even more than lace dress (which I don’t actually hate that much, sorry TLo). Or nude platforms.

  • Denise Rambo

I just hate black shoes with an all-white outfit.

  • BlairBear

somebody who looks cheap and tacky?

  • Constant Reader

I agree with the quibbles, but Miss Bey is working the shit out of that pleated white jumpsuit.

  • Betsy

I think she looks great. Amazing things happen when one moves away from the Tina Knowles fashion line.

  • CG

She makes me sick…but to be on the Beyonce gangbangwagon…SHE LOOKS AMAZING!!! OMG! She is perfection. Who wouldn’t want their mom dressing like a whore. Luck Blue Ivy or what is that Kim Kardashians baby?

  • LadyVimes

….I think it looks tacky. Sorry, Bey.

  • Chelsea

I need this jumpsuit. If anyone knows where I can find a knockoff…

  • decormaven

Is it that the fit is off in the bust or is the waistband too high? It’s fine as a look, but the fit needed to be finessed.

  • Anastasia

Those shoes are very disappointing – snakeskin peep-toe pumps would have turned it up a notch. Then again, she can work a white pleated jumpsuit better than most. Everything from the neck up looks stunning.

  • Glam Dixie

Her hair looks terrible. It’s ok, don’t like the fit but she looks good in white so it almost works but still not quite there.

    • Alloy Jane

To be fair, her hair always looks terrible.

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

“Ah, Martha. I see you’re wearing your Sunday chapel dress.”

  • Anna

I first saw photos of her standing next Blake Lively when I saw photos of this event. Kinda ruined it for me, the effect was: “Just cast in a guaranteed to be cancelled Charlie’s Angels redux pilot.”

  • appliquer

  • dschubba

Scrolling that third pic is making me dizzy.

  • Melissa Mendes

Amen to all women wearing jumpsuits who are not a size 2. Those hips! HAAWWWTT. These are clothes that are meant to be filled out.

  • suzq

What have we learned today? Pleated pants provide pooches on perfect people. If they give Beyoncé a pooch, imagine what they are doing to you!

    • AndieJay

      Alliteration is always amazing! :)

  • Thomas

    Hate the hair.

  • smayper

Did anyone else notice the man’s hand in the second shot? Really looks as though he is either 1) groping her or 2) picking her pocket.

  • GeoDiva

  • quiltrx

My Barbie in the early 80s had those shoes. I think she had the jumpsuit, too…maybe it was red?

  • demidaemon

She needs stronger make-up. Natural was not the way to go for this.

  • Anna

Is it fashion-forward? No, but at the end of the day, these kinds of bombshell-outfits look best on Bey.

  • Annmarie Kane

Yes, that pretty much wrote itself. ZZZ zzz Next!

  • marlie

Bey looks nice, but the whole outfit lacks “oomph.” Plus, she even looks like she’s not feeling it.

  • macwell

    Expexted, but still quote chic.

  • Sarah

    Polterwang. You get polterwang.

  • Sha Har

    Beyonce is Gorgeous!

  • livesarah

Answer: Laverne Cox. But Laverne is pretty fabulous. I just wish they’d both do something a bit different with their hair.

  • Lizzy

There’s no way that worked well when she sat down.

  • Renaissance_Man_ATL

In the first pic I thought this was Laverne Cox.

  • Alfred Cox

  • Alfred Cox

What else needs to be said?

  • Shawn EH

Giving better boobs than B-Live. I thought Solange looked good at this event, too.
