Musical women of all stripes came out for the Billboard Women in Music Awards to serve looks and celebrate women, probably not in that order. Let’s assess!
Audrey Nuna
We’ll always love her attitudinal, take-up-space style, but this isn’t working for us. Love the hair, love the sweater, hate the clashing pinks and the cliche of a skirt.
Ava Max in Rad Radulescu
Five minutes of peering while muttering “What are we looking at” has not inspired any revelations. All we know is that we hate it.
Brandi Carlile
We’ve never seen her in such a toned-down style. She looks like a priest.
Coco Jones in Maria Lucia Hohan
That bust design is horrifying and the universal rule for cutouts is that you can’t do them if the dress is even a tiny bit snug on you.
EJAE in Markgong
She was the most conventional dresses out of the HUNTR/X trio during awards season so we guess she’s feeling the need to be a little more outrageous, but none of this works. The understructure of the skirt is too visible (there’s a reason hoop skirts tended to be so embellished and embroidered) and the proportions of the whole look are terrible. That top could be cute with the right pieces but it sits too high on her.
Kehlani in Miss Claire Sullivan
What the hell is that? Just wear clothes like a normal person! It’s not hard!
Keke Palmer in Monse
It’s giving Josephine Baker, but this is way more of a dancer’s stage costume than something for a red carpet.
Kim Petras in Courregès
That’s way too much leather for April, but it’s a pretty kickass look. Love the hair and makeup.
Kylie Cantrall
Boring.
Lainey Wilson in Saiid Kobeisy
Love it. The top is very cute.
Laufey in Chloé
Sure. Okay. It’s not a very interesting design, but we’re not mad at it.
Rei Ami in Iris van Herpen
LOVE the dress, but the boots don’t go with it.
Tate McRae in Elie Saab
Can’t argue with that. While the leather does have a chintzy shine to it, we love the unexpected subtle color.
Tyla in Javier Collazo
GIRL, COME ON.
Victoria Justice in Maria Lucia Hohan
Tired of corset bodices, but the skirt is interesting. Unfortunately, it’s all the color of lint.
Victoria Monét
We like the skirt but the top’s a big nothing.
Zara Larsson in Archival Versace
SPRING! Look, we keep saying that no one should feel pressure to wear bright colors and florals this time of year, but it’s actually a nice change of pace to see someone embracing them. If we’re being honest, the print is kind of ugly, but it’s fun to see someone in something bold.
