And now, cuties. Josh O’Connor and Paul Mescal opted not to do any stunt-dressing for the BFI London premiere of their queer romance The History of Sound. Instead, they dressed kind of conventional and boring.

Meh. Resting on cuteness, we’d say. Paul’s suit is nice, but boring. The pants need a hemming. Josh’s suit is also nice and boring, but at least he wore an interesting color and no one would suggest that his pants need hemming. We are going to hate this wide-legged high-water trend every day until it’s over. Also, the grooming here is typically bad for the both of them, but not as bad as it’s been in the past. Yes, that’s damning with faint praise.

ABOUT THE MOVIE:
In 1917, Lionel—a young, talented music student—meets David at the Boston Conservatory, where they bond over a deep love of folk music. Years later, Lionel receives a letter from David, leading to an impromptu journey through the backwoods of Maine to collect traditional songs. This unexpected reunion, ensuing love affair, and the music they collect and preserve, will shape the course of Lionel’s life far beyond his own awareness.
