Sydney Sweeney has a tendency to attract a lot of opinions about her, if not occasional bouts of controversy. For someone who’s trying to establish her stardom, she’s in a tricky spot in terms of how to promote herself. She hasn’t seen fit to ask our opinion on the matter, but if she had, we would definitely say, regarding her choice for the BFI London Film Festival premiere of Christy

Not like this, girl. Her tastes have always run toward the tacky, but she is quickly establishing herself as the new Queen of Bless Her Heart on the red carpet. This is hideous and tacky, even without the skirt design’s goofy-ass focus directly on the crotch. It’s an awful design, cheaply and badly executed. Kind of a disgrace for the house of McQueen, if you ask us. Again, nobody did, so that’s why we have a blog. Anyway, it’s not that we would advise her to make herself small or demure in any way. Sexy or even loud styles are still open to her, but we’d have her in pieces much simpler and classic in design than this. Sure, this tacky shit gets her attention, but at some point, you want producers and directors to look at you as a professional if not prestige option. This won’t do it. Also, the head styling is weirdly low key for such an obnoxious gown.

ABOUT THE MOVIE:
Christy Martin (Sydney Sweeney) never imagined life beyond her small-town roots in West Virginia—until she discovered a knack for punching people. Fueled by grit, raw determination, and an unshakable desire to win, she charges into the world of boxing under the guidance of her trainer and manager-turned-husband, Jim (Ben Foster).
But while Christy flaunts a fiery persona in the ring, her toughest battles unfold outside it—confronting family, identity, and a relationship that just might become life-or-death. Based on remarkable true events, Christy Martin’s story is one of resilience, courage, and the fight to reclaim one’s life.
