We gave the gentlemen of The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare a separate post because we figure being The Girl in a Guy Ritchie movie comes with a whole basket of hassles and deserves some spotlight time. Besides, Eiza González went to far more effort than most of her co-stars did. Also because it’s the only solo red carpet look of the day, which makes it a perfect look to throw at you bitter kittens to make the final call.

It’s pretty and it offers a subtly cute twist on the ladytux. We’re not sure the silk satin and the chiffon pair perfectly, but that’s a minor quibble. Our bigger question revolves around whether this is the kind of look she should have chosen for this setting/project. We’re not big believers in method dressing that pushes actors to wear character costumes, but this does seem very frivolous and romantic for a guyflick, let alone for a battleship or a photo call where most of her co-stars dressed casually. On the other hand, a girl’s gotta take her moments where she can get them. Sure, maybe a skirt, boots and a leather jacket would’ve been more on point, but she got that final shot and that’s gotta count for something, right? We’re asking.

ABOUT THE MOVIE:
– Based upon recently declassified files of the British War Department and inspired by true events, THE MINISTRY OF UNGENTLEMANLY WARFARE is an action-comedy that tells the story of the first-ever special forces organization formed during WWII by UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill and a small group of military officials including author Ian Fleming. The top-secret combat unit, composed of a motley crew of rogues and mavericks, goes on a daring mission against the Nazis using entirely unconventional and utterly “ungentlemanly” fighting techniques. Ultimately their audacious approach changed the course of the war and laid the foundation for the British SAS and modern Black Ops warfare.
– THE MINISTRY OF UNGENTLEMANLY WARFARE – In theaters April 19. Starring Henry Cavill, Eiza González, Alan Ritchson, Alex Pettyfer, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Babs Olusanmokun, Henrique Zaga, Til Schweiger, with Henry Golding, and Cary Elwes.
