As fashion-minded homosexuals, we are duty-bound to love any gown dramatic enough to come with its own hood. However, we are finding it somewhat difficult to get excited about Rachel Zegler’s hooded gown at the LA premiere of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbird & Snakes because it has another quality; one that we, as fashion-minded homosexuals, are duty-bound to denounce: it’s the color of a paper bag that’s been left out in the sun.
We’ll throw this one out to y’all for the final call, because we’re wrinkling our noses at just about all of it. The design is nice, but the textile is so relentlessly drab and flimsy-looking. It doesn’t really take beading all that well, or maybe it’s just that these embellishments are dull and poorly placed. We don’t know… it feels like it’s offering a lot of sweep and a sense of drama, but it fails to really hit the mark. Does that make sense? We’re asking.
