Princess Cathy has been enjoying quite a few opportunities to turn up the royal drag this month. Following on the heels of Trooping the Colour and the Royal Order of the Garter Service, she gets to ramp up her matchy-match preferences and ride around in a carriage at Royal Ascot. In every way, her ensemble for the occasion was rigidly appropriate and pretty much what you’ve come to expect from her. Every way except one, that is.
She’s worn this brand of earrings before, but it’s genuinely odd to see them paired with such a conservatively retro, nearly stereotypically royal outfit. We’re not scandalized by them or anything, we’re just not convinced the style meshes well with what she’s wearing.
