Miss Jessica Chastain, Serious Actress and Broadway Star, was at the Broadway.com Audience Choice Awards to pick up her Favorite Leading Actress in a Play trophy, for her performance in A Doll’s House. She hit that red carpet hard, the way only a movie star can.
Which isn’t to say that this is some sort of avant garde or high-edgy look. In most ways, it’s yet another twist on the ladytux, which has become more or less de rigueur on the red carpet in recent years, the way princess gowns and wrap dresses were, back when we started this bitchy gig. Anyway, our point here is that this look screams high fashion to our eyes. It’s got that perfect blend of attitude, seriousness, and a touch of glamour that makes it so right for the occasion. It’s giving profesh, but also “Don’t forget I’m a star.” We just aren’t sure about that top.
