Let’s look at some lovely gentlemen in formalwear, shall we? Commentary will tend to be a little light this time because let’s face it, there’s just not a lot to say about a classic tux, which is what most of these guys wore to the Governors Awards. Having said that, there were a few standouts.
Aldis Hodge in Waraire
This is a really great look, but we think the coat doesn’t look quite as fine as it should for formalwear.
Austin Butler in Saint Laurent
He’s built for these kinds of sexy/sleazy takes. We’d have like a little more tailoring in the jacket and a little more starch in the shirt.
Billy Eichner
No complaints.
Danny Ramirez in Dolce & Gabbana
LOVE this. the touches of satin make the look.
Eddie Redmayne
It’s interesting, but we hate the red cuffs, which look like the admittance bracelets you get for a club or amusement park. The brooch is nice.
Gabriel LaBelle
Perfection. He looks very pleased with himself, as well he should. We couldn’t figure out why his eyes looked so odd in the trailer for The Fabelmans, but it turns out he was wearing Spielberg-colored contacts.
Glen Powell in Brioni
Cute, but he needs a haircut.
Jeremy Strong
It’s fine.
Joe Alwyn
We like the double-breasted jacket. He has gorgeous hair.
Jonathan Majors
Someone please help this man find clothes that fit him and proportions that work for him.
Jude Law in Brioni
Flawless.
Ke Huy Quan
Also flawless.
Lewis Pullman
LOVE the velvet.
Luke Macfarlane in Giorgio Armani
Good.
Paul Dano
Sure.
Paul Mescal
Too big on him.
Taron Egerton
Interesting color choice, but we’re not convinced black pants and a black tie really work with it.
