The lighting was dramatically terrible and the outfits ran the gamut from dramatic to terrible (not really, but we couldn’t help ourselves) as the stars came out for the Dior Spring 2023 runway show in Paris. Let’s skip assessing everyone’s slightly scary makeup just this once, because there’s nothing more blinding and unflattering than a bunch of flashes going off in the front row at a darkened runway venue, and instead get extra bitchy about the expensive clothes they borrowed for the occasion.
Alexandra Daddario
To be honest, this terrible lighting situation isn’t helping the fashion much either. We can’t tell if this is fussy and overdesigned or if it’s giving 1989 office wear. Neither is a crime. We’d just like to know what we’re looking at. The jacket’s cute, but the vest is too much and the shirt is too shiny.
Rosamund Pike
We don’t love the outfit, but we do love her for being so relentlessly weird in her public style. It’s so much more interesting than just going for pretty or fashionable. Having said that, we think the fur-lined crocs look (and probably smell) unpleasant.
Shailene Woodley
What kind of crazy, topsy-turvy, upside-down world are we living in when Shailene Woodley showed up in the cutest outfit? Personally, we find decorative suspenders to be way too precious or our tastes, especially when you pair them with a brimmed hat. In fact, we can’t really point to any one piece or element that really appeals to us here. It’s just that it all comes together pretty nicely for her. It suits her well. Or maybe it’s just that her makeup’s the least scary under these lights.
