Thandiwe Newton in Atelier Versace at the “Reminiscence” Los Angeles Premiere: IN or OUT?

The lighting conditions for the L.A. premiere of Reminiscence were not particularly great, going by these shots of Miss Thandiwe doing her best to shimmer. Maybe it’s unfair to submit a frock to IN or OUT judgments when the lighting’s not great – especially if it’s a frock in a tricky color – but we genuinely aren’t sure what we think of this one and we need you to figure it out for us.

We’re not huge fans of fringe dresses; let’s get that bias out on the table. We’re also not feeling that really weird shoulder-to-wrist non-sleeve thing. It’s just interesting enough to make us wonder how it would like on a different garment, but it’s annoying and incongruous attached to a dress that’s part showgirl, part modest swimsuit.

On the other hand – and it is an admittedly really large hand, metaphorically speaking – Mama is SERVING.
