The 20 Best- and Worst-Dressed Celebs at the 2026 Oscars
Tom + Lorenzo are here to analyze the highs (and lows) of 2026 Oscars fashion.
It’s Oscars night! We won’t call it Hollywood’s prom night because that’s such a tired cliché at this point. Instead, we’d rather look at it as the Olympics of Fashion, a veritable cage match of gowns and tuxes fighting for your attention and for the honor of being picked—by us, of course—as one of the best of the night. For the 2026 Oscars, we’re happy to report that the style mood was celebratory and glamorous, with lots of sparkle and color on the red carpet this year. Were there one or two disasters? Maybe! Let’s go to the carpet.
Oscars: Full List of Winners
‘One Battle After Another’ took home six awards, including best picture and best director. ‘Sinners’ scooped up four, including best actor for Michael B. Jordan, and ‘Frankenstein’ nabbed three.
One Battle After Another was named best picture at the 98th Oscars, which were handed out Sunday.
That film took home six Oscars in total. Paul Thomas Anderson also won the award for best directing and best adapted screenplay, marking his first-ever wins.with Paul Thomas Anderson winning his first Academy Award for his script. Sean Penn, who wasn’t at the ceremony, won best supporting actor for One Battle After Another, setting a record with his win. One Battle also landed an Oscar for best film editing for Andy Jurgensen.
This year, the Oscars added a new category, the first since best animated feature was introduced in 2002, recognizing best casting. Cassandra Kulukundis won the Oscar for One Battle.
Elsewhere, Sinners took home four Oscars. Michael B. Jordan was named best actor, while Ryan Coogler won best original screenplay for his film, which also nabbed the award for best original score for Ludwig Goransson and best cinematography for Autumn Durald Arkapaw, who became the first woman to ever win the award.
Oscars Snubs and Surprises: ‘Marty Supreme’ Shut Out Amid Unexpected Documentary Feature Win and Short Film Tie
Though ‘One Battle After Another’ and ‘Sinners’ dominated the ceremony as expected, with six and four wins, respectively, the titles traded wins sometimes defying experts’ predictions.
As he did last year, Timothée Chalamet received one of the first shoutouts of the night from Oscars host Conan O’Brien, but, in another repeat, both Chalamet and his film nominated for multiple awards (this year Marty Supreme with nine nods, last year A Complete Unknown with eight nods) left empty-handed.
Marty Supreme, which has grossed more than $179 million at the global box office and boasts a 93 percent freshness rating on Rotten Tomatoes, was completely shut out, not winning one of the nine awards for which it was nominated at the 2026 Oscars. That stat gives the Josh Safdie-directed film one of the worst Oscar nights in history, behind winless 11-time nominees The Turning Point and The Color Purple and 10-time nominees Gangs of New York, True Grit, American Hustle, The Irishman and Killers of the Flower Moon. Other nine-time nominees that went winless include The Little Foxes, Peyton Place and The Banshees of Inisherin.
Most Memorable Moments at 2026 Oscars: Conan O’Brien Rapid-Fire Jokes, Iconic Reunions and Dazzling Performances
From Anna Wintour channeling ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ to Jimmy Kimmel taking digs at Trump and CBS, here are some of the highlights from the 98th Academy Awards on Sunday.
The 2026 Oscars delivered plenty of memorable moments that left winners, presenters and audience members crying, laughing and cheering. From Conan O’Brien’s rapid-fire monologue filled with pointed jokes and Avengers and Bridesmaids cast reunions to Anna Wintour channeling Miranda Priestly from Devil Wears Prada and iconic performances of “I Lied to You” and “Golden,” here are some of the most memorable moments from Hollywood’s biggest night on Sunday.
Michael B. Jordan Wins the Oscar and Shouts Out Denzel Washington, Halle Berry and More: ‘I Stand Here Because of the People Who Came Before Me’
Michael B. Jordan has won the first Oscar of his career, taking home the lead actor statue for playing twin brothers Smoke and Stack in the supernatural thriller “Sinners.” His victory makes him the sixth Black man to triumph in the lead actor category.
“I stand here because of the people that came before me,” Jordan said before naming those men, Sidney Poitier, Denzel Washington, Jamie Foxx, Forest Whitaker and Will Smith, as well as Halle Berry, the first and only Black women to win for lead actress. “To be amongst those giants, those greats, amongst my ancestors, amongst my guides… Thank you everybody in this room and everybody at home for supporting me over my career. I feel it. I know you guys want me to do well, and I want to do that because you guys bet on me. So thank you for keeping betting on me.”
Who is Chase Infiniti? Meet the breakout star of One Battle After Another
In many ways, Chase Infiniti was the unsung hero of the Oscars 2026. As director Paul Thomas Anderson noted in his acceptance speech, Infiniti is the “heart” of this year’s Best Picture winner One Battle After Another.
And, in her custom Louis Vuitton lavender gown with a cascading ruffled train along with dazzling yellow diamonds courtesy of De Beers London, Infiniti also made a strong case for best dressed on the red carpet.
Colour Eyeshadow Made Its Great Return at the Oscars 2026
From lilac to cobalt blue, bright hues swept the red carpet
Marie Claire UK reported live on the 98th Academy Awards’ red carpet, and one beauty trend had us stop in our tracks; colour was everywhere, especially on the lids. Signalling a break from the “clean girl” era, stars sported some of the more dramatic hair and make-up looks we’ve seen in years, with lashings of graphic liner and dramatic side parts.
Bugonia star Emma Stone sported a bright white glittery eyeshadow with a thin line of black eyeliner, while Chase Infiniti, of One Battle After Another, sported a soft, smudgy lilac shadow that perfectly matched her Louis Vuitton gown.
The Spring 2026 Makeup Trends Set to Define the Season
Because why wait?
Spring may technically still be weeks away, but with the wind howling outside and the lights on at 2 pm while I write this, I’m more than ready to start thinking about it. If there’s one thing I love about makeup, it’s its ability to shift a mood instantly—a swipe of colour can feel like escapism, optimism, even a little rebellion against grey skies. Traditionally, spring beauty leans into the nonchalant and understated. But this season the mood is slightly different. Makeup is becoming expressive again—just in a softer, looser way. Think blurred, French-girl lips, flushed skin, ‘saucy’ cheeks and the word ‘cloud’ being used to describe almost everything. And frankly, I’ll be damned if I’m waiting until the end of March to try them. If spring still feels a long way off, consider these looks a small act of seasonal optimism.
Celebs at the Oscars Just Proved That Peplums Are Red Carpet Worthy
Here’s how you can wear the silhouette, too
It’s no secret that one of the most enthralling parts of the Oscars is observing the countless celebrities filing in one after another, draped in haute couture. Watching the red carpet best dressed in real time is often a guessing game of which one of the major fashion houses has meticulously dressed each and every star, but easily the more entertaining pastime is seeing sartorial trends cement themselves for the season ahead. And at the 98th annual Academy Awards, one silhouette in particular has taken centre stage—peplum.
This divisive 2010s fashion trend just ruled the Oscars 2026 red carpet
Millennials, look away now.
While the Oscars 2026 may have been about celebrating the very best acting talent in Hollywood, the last of the big ceremonies during awards season is nothing if not also one of the most major moments in the fashion calendar.
And although it’s less of a trend-forecaster than fashion week – and much more of a jaw-on-the-floor, can’t-take-my-eyes-off-the-dresses-I’ll-never-have-an-occasion-worthy-to-wear kind of moment – there are occasionally dress details that will undoubtedly shift the fashion narrative IRL. Unfortunately for millennials, this year’s stand-out trending detail might bring up some fashion memories you’d rather stayed buried.
Vampire nails took over the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party
Blood red manis for spring.
At the start of the year, we told you that the vampire haircut was a style to watch in 2026. Now, vampire nails are the manicure trend that will perfectly complement your dark, romantic hair style.
An unexpected nail colour for spring, blood red manis appeared on some familiar faces at last night’s Vanity Fair Oscars after-party. From Rhode’s Hailey Bieber to Cara Delevingne and Sarah Paulson, various shades of red – from darker burgundy to bright red – kept popping up, signalling the incoming trend and one to watch out for as we enter spring.
Feathers, Fringing And Daring Sheer Dresses: The 15 Best-Dressed Stars From The Oscars After-Party
From Dua Lipa to Chase Infiniti, the stars partied the night away in suitably chic fashion
Every year, after the final statuette is handed out at the Academy Awards, Hollywood’s most esteemed stars make their way to the Vanity Fair after-party. The exclusive event is where many of the night’s most unforgettable looks unfold, as the attendees take the opportunity to slip into something new, often opting for more daring fashion choices than seen on the red carpet for the actual ceremony.
‘Pinotage’ Is The Unexpected Nail Colour Trending For Spring – 7 Soft Burgundy Manicure Ideas To Try
The deep red shade is the perfect transitional hue.
It’s no secret that fashion trends trickle into the beauty sphere. This season alone, brown has monopolised our wardrobes and caused a resurgence for chocolate hair colours and brown lipsticks, while the return of checked skirts meant that plaid nails became a key trend for winter.
Now, it seems burgundy – the latest colour surging in popularity across stylish fashion circles – is set to become the manicure for the new season.
Barbra Streisand Sings Touching Tribute at the Oscars 2026 for Her First Performance in 7 Years
Barbra Streisand just made an emotional, long-awaited return to the stage at the Oscars 2026. The actress and singer, who last performed in 2019, appeared during the In Memoriam section of the March 15 ceremony to give a moving tribute to her late co-star, Robert Redford, who died last year.
Weeping.
It’s Official: The People Need a Bridesmaids Sequel
I’ve kvetched before about how all the wrong movies seem to spawn reboots, but know this: you will never hear me arguing against a sequel to the 2011 buddy comedy Bridesmaids, which made me laugh so helplessly when I first saw it that I somehow strained a rib.
As fate would have it, viewers of the 2026 Oscars on Sunday night were blessed with a mini-Bridesmaids reunion—introduced by an instrumental cover of “Hold On” by Wilson Phillips—courtesy of stars Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, and Ellie Kemper, who were on hand at the Dolby Theatre to celebrate the film’s 15th anniversary (and to present the Oscars for best score and best sound).
Cinematographer Autumn Durald Arkapaw Gave One of the Best Speeches of the 2026 Oscars
History was made at the 2026 Oscars on Sunday night, as Sinners director of photography Autumn Durald Arkapaw became the first woman and first Black nominee to win an Oscar for best cinematography.
“I really want all the women in the room to stand up,” Arkapaw said as she accepted her award, “because I [wouldn’t be] here without you guys.”
Durald Arkapaw, the daughter of a Filipina mother and a Black Creole father, is known for her work on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and The Last Showgirl. In shooting Sinners on 65mm film using a combination of IMAX 15-perf and Ultra Panavision 70 cameras, she became the first female director of photography to shoot a movie on large-format IMAX film.
The No. 1 Nut in America, According to New Data
A new report breaks down how generational tastes, regional preferences, and texture cravings shape the country’s snacking habits — from crunchy favorites to sweeter picks.
Cashews have earned a well-deserved reputation as a staple. They’re nutrient-dense and buttery, with an almost-savory profile that’s primed for blending into sauces and dips. You could even toss a handful into a stir-fry for a crunchy textural element.
It then comes as no surprise that cashews emerged as the most-loved nut for snacking, according to a new report by direct-to-consumer retailer Nuts.com. A February survey found that 43% of Americans prefer the nut to all other types, with 54% noting that “crispy” snacks are their top choice over all others.
The United States of Cheese: Everything to Know About America’s Growing Artisan Cheese Scene
From coast to coast, producers in the U.S. are making world-class cheese. Here’s what to seek out whether you’re in New York or Wisconsin.
In every corner of the country, American cheese has evolved from colonial farmhouse wheels to world-class artisanal blue cheeses. No matter where in the country you live, now is a great time to start sniffing out your local scene. Head in any direction, and you’ll find award-winning cheeses made on various scales, from large-scale dairies to small-batch producers.
Cheesemaking history in the U.S. has rippled from east to west, with immigrant cheesemakers re-creating favorite styles. Artisan cheese as we know it today is a recent U.S. trend, emerging from nearly two centuries of factory production. Each U.S. region has played its part in shaping the country’s cheese industry — from early cheddar factories to today’s natural-rind innovators.
Why Irish Whiskey Is a Global Favorite Again — and 5 Bottles to Use in a Cocktail
Bartender-approved and blend-friendly, these Irish whiskeys shine brightest in a well-made cocktail.
As chief blender at Midleton Distillery, the maker of brands like Jameson, Powers, and Redbreast, Dave McCabe oversees a tradition that stretches back to the 12th century yet nearly went extinct in the early 20th. Irish whiskey was once the world’s most popular spirit, but its production dwindled to nearly nothing after Ireland’s Great Famine and War of Independence, World War I and II, and Prohibition in the United States. It took decades for the industry to revive, but it now has: Demand in the U.S. has been rising, and the spirit is taking off in new markets like South Africa, Nigeria, Brazil, Mexico, and across Southeast Asia.
Oscars Snubs and Surprises: Timothée Chalamet and ‘Marty Supreme’ Win Nothing, ‘Sinners’ Casting Director Misses and More
The 98th Academy Awards have wrapped, and like so many times during award season, there were moments that took both creatives and audiences by surprise. Read about the night’s biggest shocks below.
Surprise: “One Battle After Another” won best picture.
After a tight race this season that seemed to get even more competitive as time went on, the year’s biggest award seemed like a coin flip between “Sinners” and “One Battle After Another” — making either winner a surprise. But “Battle” triumphed in the overall win count, with six over the four for “Sinners” — despite the latter’s historic number of nominations.
The Best, Worst and Most Oops Moments of the 2026 Oscars
The 2026 awards season came to an end with some surprises, a heartwarming In Memoriam and some possibly questionable facial hair choices. See what earned our best, worst and most oops designations of the night
The 2026 Academy Awards had plenty to discuss for awards show fans, from the uniformly good red carpet style on the women and men alike to the bits from host Conan O’Brien reimagining movies for a more phone-oriented audience (we particularly liked his funny take on Casablanca, as scripted by someone who knows people never watch just one screen anymore). It moved quickly, had a few surprises and brought the tears pretty much from the moment the In Memoriam began.
That’s not to say it was totally smooth sailing, however! Read on for what made us laugh, cry, cringe and shout “Oh, c’mon!” at our TV screens at the 2026 Oscars.
Why Gene Hackman wasn’t featured in the ‘In Memoriam’ segment at the 2026 Oscars
No, the “French Connection” star wasn’t snubbed.
Gene Hackman was not among the celebrities remembered during the annual “In Memoriam” segment at the 2026 Oscars.
Some viewers might have seen that as a snub.
After all, Hackman won two Academy Awards — for Best Actor in 1971’s The French Connection and Best Supporting Actor in the Western film Unforgiven two decades later — and he was nominated three more times over a career that spanned decades. And the actor, beloved for his appearances in movies including Hoosiers, The Firm, and The Royal Tenenbaums, was part of the same tribute at this month’s Actor Awards.
Rachel McAdams shares Diane Keaton stories, Barbra Streisand sings for Robert Redford during heart-wrenching 2026 Oscars ‘In Memoriam’
McAdams got teary before Barbra Streisand took the stage to sing for Robert Redford.
Rachel McAdams teared up as she honored Diane Keaton, her costar in 2005 movie The Family Stone and 2010’s Morning Glory, at the Oscars on Sunday.
She first spoke about the late Claudia Cardinale, “whose six-decade career helped bring European cinema to America,” and three-time Oscar nominee Diane Ladd, “who brought fierce humanity and wit to every role.” She called Catherine O’Hara a “comedic genius and scene-stealer, our Mighty Wind and my fellow Canadian.” McAdams added, “She made us laugh until we cried.”
McAdams got extra emotional when speaking about “icon” Keaton.

This Charming South Carolina Town Is a Less-Visited Lowcountry Escape—With Quaint Inns, Scenic Views, and Literary Ties
Here’s what to know about visiting Beaufort, one of the most beautiful towns in the state.
Charleston may get most of the attention when it comes to South Carolina’s many cities, but the history, culture, and (of course) Southern charm that make it so special can also be found in smaller and less expensive places in the region. If you’ve ever watched “Forrest Gump” or read anything by the late author Pat Conroy, you may be familiar with Beaufort, a harbor town on Port Royal Island. While its narrow streets, oak trees, and historic district that pre-dates the Civil War are similar to those in Charleston, Beaufort is remarkable and magical in its own right. Plus, it doesn’t draw the same crowds that tend to flock to notable Holy City hangouts like King Street, Folly Beach, and the Battery.
