We’re sure they’re very happy for the success and the fans’ support and all that yadda yadda yadda, but you can’t tell us that Outlander stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe aren’t absolutely thrilled at the prospect of putting this project behind them. Twelve years is a long-ass time for any actor to commit to a role and most actors are, by their very natures, always looking for the next role to tackle.
Outlander raised their profiles to previously unreachable heights for them and they’re both still young and hot, so it’ll be interesting to see where they land next. For now, they’re getting all dressed up to say their goodbyes, which we suspect will be a long and sustained process akin to the end of The Return of the King. Anyway, let’s assess the happily unemployed duo. Yes, we know they have upcoming projects.
SAM HEUGHAN IN SIOBHAN MCKENZIE
This man will never go wrong wearing a kilt. We love the slightly unexpected way the tartan is used and the rather chic minimalist sporran. Love the boots. It all feels modern and a little punk. His hair and grooming look great. We can remember when his style team struggled mightily in these areas.
CAITRIONA BALFE IN LOUIS VUITTON
Just as he can never go wrong in a kilt, she can never go wrong picking a vibrant red. It sings on her. So much so, that the gorgeous color manages to mitigate or play down the fact that she’s wearing a rather basic night gown. We don’t like the design at all, but we can’t deny she takes a great picture in it.
