We were appalled but also, we’re not gonna lie, a little intrigued by this Hollywood Reporter story about the attempt to do a “director’s cut” of Orson Welles’s 1942 classic The Magnificent Ambersons through the use of AI tools. We unpack the ways in which the people in charge of the project seem to be aware of the ethical considerations and also how their concern ultimately doesn’t matter if they’re successful at it.
Then, with the release of the trailer for the new HBO Harry Potter series, we once again run down all of the reasons why you can’t watch the show if you care about trans people at all — or even people generally.
