The stars of Palm Royale came out in some version of style (the results were a bit dicey) for the second season premiere of Palm Royale. Let’s just leave them to it and not bother them with our opinions this time. JUST KIDDING! Let’s be awful about it!

It’s way too twee, the dress doesn’t fit her well, and the reds don’t match.

Bob Odenkirk

Try harder, Bob.

Carol Burnett

A pure classic.

Charlize Theron

In the interest of fairness, we want to say “Try harder, Charlize,” but this is actually significantly more stylish and interesting to look at than Odenkirk’s parent-teacher night ensemble. She looks pretty cute, actually.

It’s fine, but the jacket clearly should have been buttoned.

This is a very cute and savvy way for an older woman to dress in a manner that feels youthful and stylish, but doesn’t ask too much of her and doesn’t come off like she’s trying too hard. It’s layered, with multiple textures and colors, a heavy dose of easy-to-wear jewelry, and a pair of tights to pull it together. Our only suggestion is that a pair of flat booties would have been cute here.

Hair and makeup look great, but the shape of that dress is really weird and the high-vamp shoe isn’t helping the effect. It looks like a dance leotard with delusions of grandeur.

There’s a little too much going on with this design. The texture makes it look lumpy and the skirt is a poor fit. Having said that, it’s an interesting set of design ideas and we’d feel more kindly toward it without the skirt slit and rendered in a more flattering fabric.

Kind of a weird outfit. Why wear a half-buttoned dress shirt over a turtleneck? Just put a jacket on like a normal person. Hating the Frankenstein shoes.
