We’re on vacation but we’ve still managed to distract you all day with our meaningless opinions, and Kerry Washington wore a challenging sort of gown to the LACMA Art + Film Gala, which means all of the markers are in place for you to take over for your lazy hosts and do all the hard work of telling a star what you think of her outfit. Prepare for the scrolldown.

We warned you, didn’t we? It’s a lot. But is it too much? Do the various elements, techniques and textiles actually work together to produce a pleasing whole, or does it all come off like a cacophonous mess? We find the construction genuinely interesting to look at, and we love the various color and textile choices, but we have a hard time seeing this pile of elements as a unified whole. It feels like it’s trying to do too much. We think the one edit to change it would make it less recognizably Thom Browne: the checked tweed should just be all black and then this would work for us. But like we said, we’re supposed to be off eating baguettes at the moment, so the final call on this one is up to y’all.
