How Halloween Royalty Janelle Monáe Transformed Into the Cat in the Hat
Every Halloween you can always count on Janelle Monáe to deliver one of the year’s most epic and memorable costumes. (Last year she dressed up as an unforgettable E.T.) The star has loved the spooky holiday since childhood. “Halloween has always been a spiritual and sacred time for me,” Monáe tells Vogue. “I remember going trick-or-treating with my sister and cousins, running to Party City or Spencer’s to pick out costumes, and feeling that shared excitement and creativity. That sense of imagination and play has stayed with me.”
This year Monáe was as excited as ever to play dress-up—and, as per usual, fully commit to the art of transformation. In past years, she has turned herself into everything from The Fifth Element’s Diva Plavalaguna to a headless bride. “Halloween is my creative playground,” says Monáe. “As a storyteller and artist, I get to keep discovering new levels of my imagination and transformation. I went into this Halloween feeling like a whimsical and seasoned maestro.” So, without further ado, Monáe’s 2025 costume is…the Cat in the Hat.
The Rise Of Shamelessness: Why We Love Watching The Super-Rich Behaving Badly
While a blatant lack of shame has been most prevalent in politics, it’s now on show everywhere, from professional sports to super-rich weddings. As we soak it all up, Lotte Jeffs asks: are we becoming tone deaf?
You know who the super-rich need on their payroll?
A chief optics officer. Someone whose job description involves reading the room and gently suggesting, as you might with a toddler, that it’s probably not a great idea to do that, buddy, but here, play with this shiny thing instead. Because when you look at the behaviour of high-profile people right now, you have to wonder why no one is stepping in with the boundaries or the consequences – why, instead, they are not just ‘allowed’, but encouraged to behave with absolute impunity.
Coolest Person in the Room: Jack Innanen
Popularity is relative, especially in the digital age. You could have hundreds of thousands of followers online but be completely unknown in the streets — massively famous on Instagram, YouTube or Twitter, but lack any kind of real, authentic cool in person. For our series Coolest Person in the Room, we pinpoint all the people whose energy is contagious regardless of their following count or celebrity. For this edition, we caught up with Jack Innanen, comedian, actor, and star of FX’s Adultsand the upcoming Big Mistakes.

Turns out, independence is something to romanticize.

Like It or Loathe It, the Peplum Top Is Officially Back
The Noughties-era, waist-defining silhouette is making a bold return
Remember that flouncy, waist-cinching detail that once dominated both offices and your local Vodka Revolutions? Well, it’s back—the latest in a long line of Y2K styles we thought we’d seen the billowy back of (see also: the maxi boho skirts).
In 2025, the peplum top has shed its corp-core connotations and embraced a more versatile—and dare I say, fashion-forward—identity.
According to data analysts at the trend-forecasting site Lyst, searches for peplum pieces are up 37% month-on-month, with fashion insiders enthusiastically embracing the once-maligned silhouette.
Elegant Alcohol-Free Perfumes That Are Perfect for Sensitive Skin
Skin-friendly fragrances
Anyone with redness-prone, dry, or reactive skin will know to avoid topical skincare products containing alcohol. After all, alcohol can break down vital proteins and lipids, compromising the skin barrier and leading to increased moisture loss and irritation over time. Many of us will scan the back of packaging to check ingredient lists, and spend hours finding alcohol-free alternatives to our favourite formulas. Why, then, do we—without hesitation—complete our beauty routines with a spray of alcohol-based perfume?
Feeling Fatigued? How to Avoid the Dreaded Winter Slump, Now the Clocks Have Gone Back
It’s officially hibernating season.
I don’t know about you, but something about 4 pm sunsets makes me want to crawl under a duvet and binge-watch Sex And The City episodes with a cup of tea in hand. If your energy dips the moment the clocks go back, you’re not imagining it. When daylight hours shorten, our bodies and brains take a hit, from sluggish moods and disrupted sleep to a sharp drop in motivation to move.

The Chocolate Brown Suede Trench Is This Autumn’s Cult Must-Have — Here Are The Best To Shop Now
It will instantly elevate any autumnal outfit you put together.
For years, when it came to dark neutrals, brown was often dismissed in favour of black, navy or grey. But fashion has a way of rediscovering what we’ve overlooked. The return of rich, earthy hues marks a refreshing shift – and at the heart of this resurgence is brown suede. And there’s no better way to lean into the trend’s warm, luxurious feel than with autumn’s most enduring wardrobe essential: the trench coat.
Don’t Come for Jan Ravnik of Dancing With the Stars’ Job
The first-time pro and former Eras Tour dancer spills to Glamour about dealing with choreography haters on TikTok and why his lips are sealed on Taylor Swift.
Jan Ravnik of Dancing with the Stars has a message: Don’t try to get him to spill any tea on Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.
He understands why you might be curious, as the Slovenian-born, newly minted pro did just spend more than a year as a dancer for the superstar. And it’s his respect for Swift that makes him roll his eyes when yet another person asks him for the gossip.
“People giving me a paycheck, people who changed my life, I will not talk about them,” he tells me. “I know that everyone wants to get information, but they got the wrong person because I really don’t care and I’m going to make it awkward.”
Marilyn Monroe! Madonna! Josephine Baker! Even… Glinda! Inside Swarovski’s 130th Anniversary Fashion Exhibition
Kendall Jenner opened Vogue World: Hollywood dripping in Swarovski crystals in an original costume from Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge—top hat included. The very same costume (well, a replica, to be precise, though it is Jenner’s hat!) is currently sitting in an exhibition space on Sunset Boulevard, a seven-minute drive—LA traffic permitting—from the Paramount Studios lot where the Vogue extravaganza took place. It’s one of several spectacular pieces of fashion and costume history that have been included in the latest iteration of Swarovski’s “Masters of Light” exhibition, which has been curated by the British fashion journalist and well-regarded “fashion geek” (his words) Alexander Fury, in collaboration with Giovanna Engelbert, the Austrian house’s global creative director.
Toilet Roll Bracelets and Spiritual Stones: How China’s Jewelry Labels Are Winning Consumers
I met jewelry designer Yezi Zhou in her dedicated space within Shanghai’s Room Room showroom, during Shanghai Fashion Week (SHFW). She and her business partner, fellow designer Ke Li, are fresh from a trip to Georgia and Armenia. They love to travel, which is perhaps why, despite being raised in China’s Zhejiang and Heilongjiang province, respectively, their jewelry brands are named after Italian food: Olio e Aceto and Sale e Pepe.
Olio e Aceto — the first label, launched in 2019 — built a steady client base for its classic silver and pearl pieces, with 30 stockists across China and Europe. But last year, the founders noticed a shift in what local jewelry buyers and consumers were looking for. They decided to launch Sale e Pepe, which swapped Olio e Aceto’s chunky silhouettes for dainty, spiritual styles, with engravings to represent certain emotions, red stones, leather straps and charms. In its first year, Sale e Pepe is already outpacing their first born in terms of sales, with around 30 Chinese stockists for Spring/Summer 2026.
We Tasted 14 Ranch Dressings — Here Are the 5 Worth Dipping Into
These are the best ranch dressings for salads, buffalo wings, and more.
This one goes out to all you ranch lovers — those who choose it as their salad dressing every time, and those who can’t have a slice of pizza or buffalo wings without it. If you don’t have time to make it yourself, ranch dressing is widely available at grocery stores. But here’s the thing: Not all store-bought ranch dressing is good.
A delicious ranch is a balancing act of flavors — creamy, oniony, garlicky, and herby — and packs a tangy punch from the addition of buttermilk. It should be one of the most versatile dressings out there, softening the spice of a punchy hot sauce or cutting the sweetness of a carrot stick or rich tomato sauce. It’s a tough formula to get right. To find the ones that do, we put the most popular store-bought ranch dressings to the test.
11 Halloween Cocktails That Are All Treats, Not Tricks
It’s never been easier to make spooky and delicious drinks.
There’s a fine line between Halloween cocktails that suggest just a hint of spookiness and drinks that hit the nail too hard on the proverbial head (think: artificial eyeballs floating in a punch bowl or fake spiders garnishing a highball). We’re fond of the former, which is why you’ll find these drinks at our Halloween parties and gatherings. Whether you’re serving a crowd with a large party punch or looking to keep things more traditional with a batch of classic cocktails, these are our favorite Halloween cocktails that are equally enticing to make year-round.
Are we caught in a culture of never-ending catch-ups?
‘Catch-up culture’ encapsulates the modern hamster wheel of recapping your life to friends, instead of living and growing alongside them
After locking in plans with friends, I often send the following text: “I’m excited to catch up!” Said dinner or drinks may be days, weeks or even months in advance, but finding an allotted slot to chat about our lives feels in the moment like investing in the friendship. Then, we both get back to the monotony of busy schedules, commitments and workout, skincare, haircare and whatever-other-care routines – knowing that a “catch up” is imminent; a time to finally debrief about our thoughts and feelings with people we want to speak with the most.
Why Your House Is Always Dusty—No Matter How Often You Clean
Keep your home clean for longer with these tips.
Few things are more frustrating than deep cleaning your home from top to bottom only to find dust has reformed after just a few hours. Even if you clean your home every day, there are some common culprits that cause dust to linger. From dirty air filters and faulty HVAC systems to using the wrong cleaning tools, our experts say these are the most common reasons your home collects dust so quickly.
8 Everyday Foods Most Often Faked With Cheap Substitutes—and How to Avoid Them
Plus, how to make sure you buy the real deal.
When you grab a bottle of maple syrup, olive oil, or honey off the grocery shelf, you assume you’re getting exactly that. But it isn’t always the case. Food fraud, when a valuable ingredient is deliberately left out, swapped, or altered, or when a food is intentionally mislabeled, is far more common than most shoppers realize.
Why Your Hardwood Floors Look Dull (and the Cleaning Mistake to Blame)
Your cleaning habits could use a little polish.
Even the most well-intentioned cleaning methods can dull a floor’s finish if the wrong techniques or products are used, leaving wood that once gleamed looking cloudy or worn. The good news is that restoring and preserving your hardwood floors’ shine doesn’t have to be complicated. By using gentle products, light moisture, and consistent care, you can maintain their natural brilliance for years to come.
Sometimes, a few simple adjustments can make all the difference in bringing back that rich, light-catching glow. Here are the cleaning mistakes that could be dulling your hardwood floors’ shine, as well as the simple fixes to restore their finish.
Delaware’s Most Scenic Fall Train Ride Is Back With an Open-air Hay Wagon—and Just in Time for Fall Foliage
The Wilmington & Western Railroad has reopened after months of restoration, offering scenic rides through Red Clay Valley.
One of the most relaxing ways to experience fall foliage is by train. Instead of keeping your eyes on the road, you can sit back, relax, take photos, and watch the landscape unfold in a blur of crimson, gold, and amber. For those visiting or in Delaware, there’s an iconic new rail option.
After a nine-month closure for maintenance and restoration, the Wilmington & Western Railroad in Wilmington, Delaware, is once again welcoming passengers aboard. This historic line offers a journey through the Red Clay Valley Scenic Byway, a 27-mile stretch of rolling countryside that draws leaf peepers every autumn. If you hurry, you can still catch the show—Delaware’s peak color typically arrives between late October and early November.
