The stars of The Wizard of the Kremlin, in which Jude Law plays Vladimir Putin, which sounds like a 30 Rock bit, lined up in pretty decent outfits for the Venice Film Festival photo call.
Jude Law in Brunello Cucinelli
What can we say? It’s a perfect summer suit and the world would be a better place (in a shallow, unimportant sort of way) if all male stars showed up to summer European film festivals looking like this. The shoes are kind of beat up, but one could argue that an outfit like this calls for a little sprezzatura.
Jeffrey Wright
It’s not exciting, but it’s chic in its restraint and extremely well suited to him.
Tom Sturridge
If we were advising him, we’d have told him to put any allusion to his Sandman character behind him, which means stark all-black looks would be off the table, no matter how glum and artsy he feels.
Paul Dano
It’s well put together, high quality and well suited to him in a nerdy dad sort of way. Personally, we’d recommend richer colors.
Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton
From the Maria Von Trapp line of cocktail dresses.
ABOUT THE MOVIE:
Russia, early 1990s. Amid post-Soviet chaos, a brilliant young man, Vadim Baranov, charts his path. First an artist, then a reality TV producer, he becomes the spin doctor to a rising KGB agent: Vladimir Putin.
At the heart of power, Baranov shapes the new Russia, blurring the boundaries between truth and lies, belief and manipulation. Only the magnetic Ksenia is beyond his control, tempting him away from this dangerous game.
Years later, after retreating into silence and shrouded in mystery, Baranov finally opens up, revealing the dark secrets of the regime he helped build.
