Gowns! Jeans! Suits and pants! We’re not sure what the dress code for the Toronto International Film Festival Tribute Awards should be, but evidently none of the attendees were either! Let’s assess these wildly varying efforts.
Catherine O’Hara in Alberta Ferretti
To shiny, too large. She looks like she’s swimming in it and it looks too wrinkled. Not worth the effort.
Channing Tatum (in Ferragamo) and Kirsten Dunst (in Julie de Libran Couture)
The jacket’s a little big on him and he needs to stop with the duck lips, but aside from that, he looks pretty great.
She, on the other hand, looks terrible and she looks like she knows it. The dress, while a bit of a stale cliche, might have a light and airy vibe to it on the right wearer, but she’s clearly not responding well to it and the styling is too low-key for it.
Christoph Waltz
Too casual for any event with the word “Awards” in it.
Idris Elba
He insists on these flimsy bespoke suits but they always look like maintenance worker uniforms to us. And before you call us snobs, we were both janitors at one point. Honest work, but not conducive to moments of high style.
Jodie Foster
Lady, we hope you walked up to the person who talked you into this and slapped them. This is ONE THOUSAND PERCENT not Jodie Foster’s style.
Sarah Gadon
This is, ironically enough. It’s fine, but if you’re going to wear a plain pantsuit, you really need to work to avoid the Hillary Hair.
Tessa Thompson
It’s okay, but that dark gray does little for her and she could’ve used some jewelry.
