We’ve been pleading with Parker Posey for the last few years not to run so quickly into wacky aunt style territory, partially because we weren’t ready to accept that the ’90s Indie Queen and Gen X icon was heading into her Golden Girls/Auntie Mame era and partially because she could look amazing if things like looking amazing mattered to her. Anyway, here is her wacky majesty in all her glory:

Yeah. We’re not willing to accept this, Parker. If you want to rush headlong into your Auntie Mame era, we will no longer stand in your way. We’ll only note this: wacky she may have been but Mame always wore killer outfits. This is hideous. The color is unpretty, the tiers and lace are incredibly mumsy, the satin framing lace bust cups is a crime against nature, and the capelet absolutely doesn’t work on top of it, nor does that necklace. It’s just a litany of bad style and design choices in one outfit and we’re confused as to why the folks at Valentino okayed it.
