When Severance star Britt Lower came to The Tonight Show earlier in the year and played the Severance theme song on her trumpet, we realized we were dealing with that rare unicorn: a gorgeous, charismatic highly talented actress who’s also a goofy little weirdo. As she picked up her Emmy for Lead Actress in a Drama Series, she served up more of the same.

Gorgeous, odd, and extremely well-suited to her. We’d usually tell most blondes or redheads not to dress in colors that match their hair, but this is such an unexpected choice for her that it winds up being all the more striking for it. The minimalism and modernity of the design seems to be her style preference, as does the slightly off quality of it, which suits her well. We tend to dislike deliberately wrinkled pieces, but if this had been a sleek column with no other design elements, it would have been dull and it wouldn’t have suited her. Let her wear her freaky little gown. In related freaky news, she wrote “Let me out” on the back of her speech, in a nod to her character Helly.
