Americans might have had trouble following along Adolescence star Erin Doherty’s acceptance speech for  Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie because of her insane rapid-fire delivery and West Sussex accent, but we were charmed by it, just as we were charmed by her even more baffling dress choice.

It’s not a perfect design to our eyes. The bodice leaves a lot to be desired and feels a bit like an afterthought. We feel like that skirt calls for either sleeves or a strapless bodice. But it’s the skirt itself that’s the main attraction here. You can’t take your eyes off it and we find it kind of appealing that she wore something so offbeat and difficult. She looks like a chess piece.
