MAX IS BACK! As we’ve noted a time or two recently, August is a fallow month in terms of style content. We spend most of it waiting for the film festivals to start, but as Tom said to Lorenzo last week when discussing our content prospects, “Remember, those lazy royals should be back at it soon, too.” And thus it came to pass! Queen Máxima came back from her summer vacation with two appearances in a row this week.

This is kind of the classic Máxima look: vaguely interesting shapes and mismatched colors. Still, while we’re not entirely convinced the pants work with the top, we have to give her credit for knowing what she’s doing:

She showed up as stylishly as possible, given what she wound up wearing.

This is well-coordinated and pretty cute. We might normally consider the style a little naive/borderline juvenile, but if a European queen can’t get a little Disney princess now and then, what’s the point of being a European queen? Granted, she looks more like a princess who hasn’t received her prince makeover yet, but still. Cute look. Love the sandals and bag. They kind of clash, but that’s to be expected.
