We’re not sure why, but a whole bunch of Hamilton castmates and supporters came out for a screening of the Disney+ movie version, which came out five years ago. Anyway, let’s judge them.
Anthony Ramos
This looks great and suits him really well. No notes.
Busy Philipps in Rachel Comey
She came with her forever-pal Michelle Williams. The textile is pretty, but the shape and style make it look like loungewear. The sandal doesn’t really go all that well.
Christopher Jackson
The brooch is a nice touch, but that plain white dress shirt isn’t helping the rest of the look.
Daveed Diggs
We’re not convinced the pants and the shirt go together, but they’re each interesting, at least. The shorter hair looks good.
Jasmine Cephas-Jones
A fun, sexy, uncomplicated party dress. No objections here.
Leslie Odom Jr.
Love this. The hair really makes it.
Lin-Manuel Miranda
Acceptable, but probably a little too low key.
Michelle Williams in Dima Ayad
Before you ask, her husband Thomas Kail is the original director of Hamilton. This is odd, with proportions that don’t quite work, but it’s so different from her usual brand of cutesy that we find ourselves approving most of it. Not sure about the pendant or the hair.
Phillipa Soo in Anamika Khanna
It’s an elegant gown, but the styling isn’t really up to its level. At the very least, a pendant would be nice.
Renée Elise Goldsberry in Sergio Hudson
Can’t argue with that.
Sydney James Harcourt
Hate the pants, but the shirt is pretty hot.
Thayne Jasperson
This is fun, full of personality, and a great way to get your picture featured in a rundown like this one. Attaboy.
