The stylish cast of The Roses came out stylishly for the London premiere. Assess their style efforts? Why, yes! We think we will!

Y’know… the reviews on this film have been quite mixed, but looking at these two, knowing what they’re capable of, we kind of can’t wait to catch it. They each have such a distinct sort of energy and we’re curious to see how they clash and commingle with each other. Anyway, on to judgment…

The suit’s nice and the shades are fantastic on him. The brooch is very sweet. The t-shirt, not so much. The loafers are really nice, but we maintain that the sockless look doesn’t work with a standard suit.

Insofar as an avocado caftan can look chic, this looks chic. It’s elegant, it suits her, and she’s obviously comfortable and confident in it. We just hate that color for her. Love the earrings, but we think the dress called for a funkier style of jewelry.

She’s the lesbian equivalent of George Clooney; always coming out in the same suit or tuxedo, over and over again. This is fine, if dull. The pants are kind of snug.

Love the heels and the jewelry choices, but this suit couldn’t be more boring.

That’s a gorgeous color on her and the floatiness of the design really suits her, but we don’t love that ruffled cape, which gets a little too precious for our tastes.

ABOUT THE MOVIE:
Life seems easy for picture-perfect couple Ivy (Olivia Colman) and Theo (Benedict Cumberbatch): successful careers, a loving marriage, great kids. But beneath the façade of their supposed ideal life, a storm is brewing – as Theo’s career nosedives while Ivy’s own ambitions take off, a tinderbox of fierce competition and hidden resentment ignites. The Roses is a reimagining of the 1989 classic film The War of the Roses, based on the novel by Warren Adler.
