Those creepy-fabulous ladies of Wednesday can’t stop, won’t stop serving looks on a promo tour that seems destined to go on forever. Jenna Ortega, Emma Myers and Gwendoline Christie came to the Sydney fan event in looks that say “We haven’t run out of things to wear yet, so let’s keep going.”

Well gothy girls, there’s your Halloween formalwear picked out for you. The dress is sharply cute. It’s possible to style it in such a way as to not come off too pumpkin-spiced, but of course she went full-bore on the Halloween Haute. The boots are insane and if we’re being honest, they don’t actually work with the dress if you’re looking at it from a conventional style standpoint. But this is theme-dressing and because she’s not actually showing up to these events in Wednesday Addams costumes, it’s a kind of theme-dressing we can support.
Emma Myers in Etro
Oh honey, no. Not at all. Not even a little bit. While we appreciate that she is also working a Halloweeny sort of aesthetic, the dress is just ugly. Discordant juxtapositions in fashion or other forms of design can be exciting and fascinating and force you to look at the forms in a new way. When it works, that is. When it doesn’t, it just looks like two dresses that got caught in a transporter accident. The print is interesting. We’d have liked a whole dress rendered in it.
Gwendoline Christie in Miu Miu
She’s clearly done with the gothy theme dressing, although we admit to being surprised at the sight of her in a goofy take on a debutante’s gown. The design is interesting and we think it mostly works, but we hate the cap sleeves and we’d have rather seen this rendered in a thousand different textile and color options other than pale blue satin, which doesn’t really do much for her.
