Lupita Nyong’o came to The Tonight Show in advance of her debut as Viola in Twelfth Night for this season of Shakespeare in the Park. She also wore probably the best, most interesting Chanel ensemble we’ve seen in ages. We are, of course, more concerned with the latter point.
Y’know? Before this moment, if you’d said, “Hey T Lo, what do you think about a tweed strapless jumpsuit over a pirate shirt?” we would have simply laughed at you and pushed you out of our way rudely. But even obnoxious bitches such as we can admit when our instincts can be wrong, and we’re genuinely surprised by how cute this looks on her. We think it helps that the shirt and styling are slightly different from the runway version. There’s a sort of “couture Pierrot” feel to it without being too literal; a subtly cute and appropriate reference to the stage. It looks incredibly stiff and uncomfortable to sit in, though. It’s much better for a standing situation.
