Miley Cyrus stopped by The Tonight Show in a vintage Mugler dress in order to promote her new album and that sentence is more exciting than the reality of the situation, we’re afraid.

We read the words “vintage Mugler” and we have expectations. Bold, sexy, formally exciting and innovative are the words that come to mind. What doesn’t come to mind is “My second cousin’s wedding in 1998.” She has a real knack for working and updating vintage styles, but the problem with this design is that it just doesn’t give her much to work with. As a design, it’s overworked. As a garment, it’s too shiny. She did the best she could with it and the rest of the styling is pretty nice, but as Muglers go, we consider this one a lesser option.
