Met Gala 2025: Chappell Roan in Paul Tazewell: IN or OUT?

We’be been opinionating on Met Gala red carpet looks practically non-stop for the last 18 hours, so we’re gonna order ourselves a pizza and stare at the wall for a bit while we recharge our batteries. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to take over our opinionating duties. Chappell Roan came to the Met Gala working a different sort of dandyism.

Rather than saluting the Black dandies of the Met exhibit, she and Wicked costume designer Paul Tazewell opted to do more of a glam rock version. In other words, she basically went Elton John for the evening. And while that’s not a bad way for her to go, and this is clearly a pretty fabulous suit on the merits, we find ourselves underwhelmed and disappointed by it. We expected so much more. Are we wrong? Is this working for you? Put another way:
