We’ll say it again for any new readers: The Met Gala isn’t a costume party and no one is required to embody the theme of the Costume Institute exhibit (Black dandies) or the Gala itself (Tailored For You), but this is the one time when any male attendee who shows up in a fine, well-fitted suit nails the themes of the night. Any guy would have to work pretty hard to avoid hitting either of those themes and somehow, our boy here managed it, choosing instead to pay homage to a white guy in a style that is pretty much characterized by its loose and easy fit. We get the idea that any sort of expressive take on fashion is welcome at an event like this – and that’s true – but coming dressed as the person you’re going to be playing in an upcoming movie (down to styling your hair the same), is goofy and a little too self-promoting. The jacket is beautiful, though.
