On the one hand, Meghan Thee Stallion wore an…interesting piece by Chinese designer Quine Li to the Gold Gala, which is a smart and respectful thing to do. On the other hand, this is what she wore:

We feel duty-bound to denounce this, but we want to give it a fair shot. Sure, it’s giving her pancake boobs and she looks she’s wearing a couple of pool noodles, but Meghan has always had a thing for strange and boundary-pushing fashion, so this feels very much in her wheelhouse. It’s definitely modern and unusual in that way she seems to prefer. The lace bodice is hot and the way the design gives the impression that the dress is peeling off her is at least a slightly different take than the usual “I’m coming undone” style of dress. Having said all that, we’re still going to denounce it. It may be appropriate for the occasion and it may be very much to her tastes, but those are still pancake boobs and pool noodles at the end of the day.
