Perpetual Dior girl Natalie Portman wore a pretty little lampshade to the Cannes Film Festival photo call for her animated film Arco.
Did we lie? Are we wrong? Is that not the cutest lampshade you’ve seen in ages? We tend to think that kind of hip extension works best with floor-length skirts because it tends to make the legs look like pins. But there’s nothing wrong with having a little fun with silhouettes and we think the only thing wrong here is the styling. The runway styling tends to work better because the boots give the look some visual weight down at the bottom, which it sorely needs. There’s also something odd about the way the shoulders are sitting on her, although that may have more to do with the posing. They seem more accentuated in the runway shot, balancing out the skirt a little better. It’s an interesting dress, but we don’t think it works in a beachside daytime setting. You need some heavy Fashion Bitch styling to make this work.
