Because she’s had a lucrative, locked-in gig for twenty years now, Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo simply hasn’t had to do a lot of heavy duty promotional work for many years. It turns out she’s got a fairly breezy, low-key sort of style that reflects her personality but also happens to take a pretty great picture. She’s better at all of this than we might have thought. She made the rounds this week promoting her new limited series Good American Family in a trio of pretty decent looks.
AT THE GOOD MORNING AMERICA STUDIOS
We’ve noticed that really traditional springtime colors are back in vogue again. For the past several years, it seemed to be about neons or oranges or Barbie pinks, but the old mint-and-lavender combo was relegated to the archives. But we’ve been seeing both of these colors a lot in recent weeks, which means people are retreating to the comfortable and safe, for reasons that are above our pay grade to discuss. ANYWAY, this looks partially great. It’s got that minimalist ’90s Calvin Klein feel to it that seems perfect for her. We can’t say we’re in love with the turtleneck and we hate that the sleeves are so long.
AT THE VIEW STUDIOS
Well, that’s just inarguable (although we don’t love the shoes).
AT THE NEW YORK SCREENING
You couldn’t pick a more on-the-nose look for New York at night. You might say that each of these looks are safe and border on cliche, but they’re all mostly well executed, suit her really well, and take a great picture, even on a dark sidewalk.
