Congratulations to Adrian Brody and Kieran Culkin on their Oscar wins. Neither of you are particularly interesting dressers, so you have to share the spotlight. And yes, if Timmee or Colman had won, they would definitely have gotten their own post. Unfortunately, if there’s any lesson to be learned from the campaign styles of the male nominees this year, it’s that sticking to the basics tends to be rewarded more than self-expression.
ADRIEN BRODY IN GIORGIO ARMANI
Which isn’t to suggest that either of these men are un-stylish or bad dressers. On the contrary; both of them are extremely consistent, always put the effort in (which isn’t something you can say for a lot of male stars and nominees), and show up looking professional and even occasionally a little chic. This is a perfectly acceptable tuxedo that looks to be of the highest quality and it fits him beautifully. The shoes are perfect and the brooch is gorgeous, although if we’re being really nitpicky, it’s slightly too large for the jacket.
KIERAN CULKIN IN ZEGNA
The pants and boots come off a little casual and the fit on the jacket is a little questionable, but overall, it’s a pretty great look that suits him really well. The brooch is stunning, set with the birthstones of his wife and kids.
