We still have about a hundred after-party looks to judge, but it’s well past time for us to put the 97th Academy Awards red carpet to bed, good and judged. If you’ve missed any of our coverage, how sad for you, but you can catch up with it by clicking here. The rest of you? Put your judging pants on.
Alba Rohrwacher in Valentino
It’s giving Couture Witch and we LOVE that for her.
Amy Poehler in Rachel Gilbert
Can’t argue with that and she looks like she knows it.
Ana de Armas in Louis Vuitton
The beaded lace trimming the bustline ruins the effect, but it’s an otherwise very pretty gown.
Ava DuVernay in Louis Vuitton
Sharply impeccable and genuinely interesting to look at, despite the minimalism of the design. That pearl gray looks fantastic on her.
Brandi Carlile in Valentino
That big dumb bow ruins the whole look.
Doja Cat in Balmain
Pure drop-dead fabulousness and a whole lot of fun. We loved this.
Emily Mortimer in Rodarte
The only things we like are the shoes. Those ruffled edges are terrible and that necklace looks dumb over a halter.
Emma Stone in Louis Vuitton
The textile is lovely, but we LOATHE that neckline, which looks sloppy, casual and unflattering to her.
Gayle King
Toothpaste.
Goldie Hawn in Dolce & Gabbana
No arguments here, although we think she’d have been better off in a bronzier sort of gold.
H.E.R. in Ralph Lauren
We realize it’s intentional, but the wrinkles in the skirt just don’t look all that fabulous to us. The bodice and belt are fun.
Julianne Hough in Dior
It’s gorgeously subtle; so much so that we suspect it looks a lot better in person. The ombre effect is beautiful. Our only issue with it is that the neutral color scheme does nothing for her.
Laura Dern in Gucci
She wasn’t there to present or win or campaign or do anything but sit with her pal Isabella Rossellini. Turns out, when there’s no pressure on her, she winds up picking something effortlessly chic.
Lena Waithe in Louis Vuitton
Looks great, but we like her better when her style has a little more flair to it.
Marlee Matlin in Yara Shoemaker
The dress isn’t terrible, but it feels kind of dowdy and serious.
Michelle Yeoh in Balenciaga
Gorgeous color; simple, classic design. When it works, it works.
Miley Cyrus in Alexander McQueen
The dress is okay, the hair is gorgeous, the gloves are a fun rocker chick affectation. Now go get your eyebrows back.
Mindy Kaling in Oscar de la Renta
It’s dazzling at first glance, but the longer you look at it, the more it just looks like spray-painted plastic ferns.
Penélope Cruz in Chanel Couture
It’s pretty in that way that floaty white gowns can’t fail to be pretty, but it’s also dull and that row of buttons looks sloppy.
Rachel Zegler in Dior
Dreary, colorless, and falling right off her. Girl, you got Dior’d.
Raffey Cassidy in Loewe
This is pretty spectacular and that bow really makes it.
Scarlett Johansson in Mugler
It’s lovely, but so sedate. An Ambien in dress form. We’re ready for the new demure trend to go away. The gloves are awful.
