Nicole Kidman is doing theme-dressing. We should feel furious about that but we’re starting to resign ourselves to the idea that red carpets, which have always been about branding over anything else, are now almost totally devoid of fashion. PSYCH! We’ll rail against this nonsense until the day we die and besides, it’s a little tough for us to get upset about Nicole Kidman stepping out in Bottega Veneta. But she did kind of tone things down a little in order to promote the roles somewhat retro housewifey vibe.

That’s a genuinely interesting blouse. Part of us agrees with the idea to pair something that fussy with something minimal in design and style, but we feel like that skirt is just a massive black void that sucks up all the light. It feels unbalance, is what we’re saying. There’s something a little odd about the picnic blanket feel of the top and that mens-style belt. Granted, juxtapositions can be good things in design, but we’re not entirely feeling this one, although we appreciate this look for being worth discussing.
